Name of the Project
Barrow EnergyDock floating solar project.

Location
Cavendish Dock, in Barrow-in-Furness, England, UK.

Project Owner/s
UK ports operator Associated British Ports.

Project Description
Barrow EnergyDock will be the UK’s biggest floating solar project.

The solar array will have a generating capacity of up to 40 MWp, enough to power the equivalent of about 14 000 homes a year. The energy is intended to be used by the advanced manufacturing sector and will help to better control the cost of electricity at the port.

The solar panels will be mounted on floating pontoons fixed at an optimum angle for solar generation, with the pontoons secured to the bottom of the dock by an anchoring system.

The proposed array will cover about one-third of the available water area in the dock and will comprise about 47 000 panels.
